Question 1

What is Boté?

Accepted Answer

Boté is a fine art print house selling black-and-white art prints with a message. Each print comes with a short written text that adds a second thought to the image, sometimes tender, sometimes ironic, sometimes critical.

Question 2

Is Boté queer art?

Accepted Answer

Partly. The work comes from a queer point of view and shows love in every form, between men and between women, alongside bodies at every age, vanity, strength and time. It is made for anyone who looks carefully.

Question 3

Is a Boté print a good gift for a man?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A small black-and-white print with its own written message is a personal gift for a partner, friend or host: ready to frame in a standard 10 × 15 cm frame, and any three prints are offered as a set.

Question 4

Can I give the Letter Club as a gift?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Letter Club, an art postcard subscription by post, can be given for three, six or twelve months. Tick “This is a gift” and enter the recipient’s address at checkout. It is prepaid and does not renew.

Question 5

How do I build a gallery wall with Boté prints?

Accepted Answer

Use “Create your collection” on the Collections page: choose a layout, add prints with a plus and arrange them side by side, then send the whole wall as one request.

Question 6

Are larger or special sizes available?

Accepted Answer

The standard format is 10.16 × 15.24 cm (4 × 6 in). Larger or special sizes can be made on request together with a fine art printing partner. Write to us with the print and the size you have in mind and we will send you an offer.

Question 7

Why is it called Boté?

Accepted Answer

In German, a Bote is a messenger. For centuries the most faithful messenger was the carrier pigeon, which never read what it carried. Boté is named after that messenger, and the dove is its symbol: every print carries a message to your door.

Question 8

How are the images made?

Accepted Answer

They are digital images, created with the help of generative AI tools and then composed, refined and captioned by hand. The people shown are not real persons. Each image is printed as a fine art edition on archival paper.

Question 9

Where does Boté ship?

Accepted Answer

Prints are printed in Austria and shipped to all EU countries, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
